Residency,
We offer a space to break silos, build new bridges and form unlikely alliances.
Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Ammersee, the SOAM Residency offers a place for change agents to refine their practice, collaborate with their peers, and evolve together. Our program is uniquely designed to offer a blend of time, space, and community, enabling residents to pursue independent projects while forming meaningful connections with their peers.
The Residency Program welcomes both established practitioners and emerging pioneers at the forefront of social, technological, and ecological transformations. Each year, the program is centered around a theme dedicated to exploring a key aspect of stewarding radical systemic change.
Open Calls,

RE:FUND OUR DIGITAL FUTURE: REIMAGINING FUNDING ARCHITECTURES FOR PUBLIC INTEREST TECHNOLOGY
Join us in (re-)imagining how technology gets funded. In partnership with the TUM Think Tank, the SOAM Residency invites residents to design speculative institutional prototypes that rethink how we fund, scale, and maintain technology in the public interest.
From June until September 2025, our hybrid program brings together 5-10 interdisciplinary residents through offline and online experiences.
Today’s dominant funding models—venture capital, ad-tech, data extraction—are failing to serve the common good. If tech is to support democracy, equity, and planetary well-being, we must rethink the financial and economic architectures that decide what gets built, who owns it, and how its benefits are distributed.
The SOAM Residency is an institutional imaginarium—a collaborative space to prototype funding models that (re-)align tech ecosystems with public benefit5
In 2025, SOAM seeks insititutional visionaries from all disciplines, including but not limited to artists, technologists, researchers, funders, and policymakers eager to explore the intersection of institutional design, funding, and .
