Residency,

We offer a space to break silos, build new bridges and form unlikely alliances.

Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Ammersee, the SOAM Residency offers a place for change agents to refine their practice, collaborate with their peers, and evolve together. Our program is uniquely designed to offer a blend of time, space, and community, enabling residents to pursue independent projects while forming meaningful connections with their peers.

The Residency Program welcomes both established practitioners and emerging pioneers at the forefront of social, technological, and ecological transformations. Each year, the program is centered around a theme dedicated to exploring a key aspect of stewarding radical systemic change.

Open Calls,

How might we reimagine community governance for a networked age?

NETWORK SOVEREIGNTIES: REIMAGINING COLLECTIVE ACTION BEYOND THE NATION-STATE

The Residency Program 2024 explores the emerging concept of network sovereignties through a speculative lens. From May to September, we invite 5-10 governance radicals to embark on a collaborative journey to envision the future of decentralized community building.

In an era marked by technological acceleration and geopolitical shifts, decentralized technologies like blockchain and peer-to-peer networks are enabling new forms of sovereignty that transcend territorial borders. Our program delves into how these digital innovations can empower networked communities to govern themselves, foster alignment, and catalyze collective action — thereby complementing or even transforming the existing nation-state system.

In 2024, SOAM seeks governance radicals from all disciplines, including but not limited to artists, technologists, researchers, and policymakers eager to explore the intersection of technology, governance, and nationhood.

Candidates may apply as an individual or duo.

EXTENDED Application Deadline: Sunday, 14th of April (23:59 CEST).

Please carefully read our application guidelines and FAQ before applying.
